Flooding update

Roma has been flooded badly, and the Roma Church of Christ are gearing up to help their local community. The church building has escaped damage, and church leadership are currently working through how they can best help their local community.

St George is currently undergoing a crisis situation with the town flooding and the residents being evacuated. The Balonne River is expected to peak tonight, in what will be the most devastating flood in over 100 years.

Churches of Christ in Queensland has a number of Care services located in St George including Warrawee Aged Care Services, South West Healthy Ageing Program, St George Community Early Childhood Centre,  Warrawee Family Day Care and St George Mobile Children’s Services.

Divisional teams are working closely with these services to ensure residents and clients are looked after and staff are supported during this time. A Crisis Management Team has also been enacted to support the service managers and staff at the affected services. St George Community Early Childhood Centre has closed and staff have prepared the site as best as possible to manage the expected flood waters on the property.

Residents from Warrawee Aged Care Services are in the process of being evacuated to our Moonah Park site and will be cared for there until the crisis is over.
