"One Heart and Mind ..."Wow! Jesus was praying for me and you! What an amazing encouragement, and at the same time a significant challenge. So here’s a question that you might like to consider: “How am I doing at living out Jesus prayer in John 17:23?” As I read about Jesus praying for me it inspires me to pray earnestly for others. And as I look at what he taught us to pray in The Lord’s Prayer, I am challenged about the attitude of my heart, especially in regards to how I forgive. How I forgive impacts how He forgives me. (John 6:14) An analogy that has helped me in this area says that “un-forgiveness is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to suffer the consequences.” “How is your heart with forgiveness?” At our recent Ministers’ Retreat and Council meeting, Tania presented us with four pictures that would be significant in our moving forward. One was that of carrying excess baggage. I feel that un-forgiveness from past hurts are part of that baggage. If we are to continue to grow in “One heart and mind…” a key step is to clear away any baggage we are carrying. Those who watch “Biggest Loser” know that the weight loss is not the most significant aspect that changes the lives of the participants. It is their attitude towards themselves and life that is the most significant key to their long term future change. I believe that when we change our attitude it becomes very evident to others. I feel that as we look at ourselves and ask the Holy Spirit to show us anything in the area of forgiveness that we need to deal with (and do something about it), it will be a powerful step towards off-loading some baggage. I know that many of us share this conviction. For this reason we are organising a day of prayer with the focus of getting rid of some baggage. COC MINISTERS/PASTORS ... YOU ARE INVITED! Our goal is to provide an opportunity for those who are able to come to –
